Many of the benefits of Maqui (Aristotelia chilensis) originate from its high amount of delphin and anthocyanin (a type of flavanoid that gives Maqui its black color) and its high amount of potassium, calcium, magnesium, and molybdenum. R R

It shows to be one of the highest Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC), which ranks for high amounts of antioxidants. R

It has higher antioxidant levels than cranberries, pomegranates, and açai. R

Apart from supplementation, its consumed as juice and jam, as well as used as a natural food colorant, especially for coloring wine. R

1. Protects The Brain

    • The trace elements exhibited highest concentrations in dried maqui berries, followed by the fresh fruits and the derived juice (Si > Fe > Ba > Mn > Zn > Cu > Mo > Cr). R
    • In diabetic obese mice, Maqui decreases glucose production in the liver and increases glucose uptake, while decreasing glucose production and enhancing the insulin-stimulated down regulation of the gluconeogenic enzyme, glucose-6-phosphatase (G6Pase). R
